(More customer reviews)I really like pepper mills with crank handles. I have had a few, and they have the same problem as most grinders. The grind setting changes as you crank them.
The Rikon has the grind setting on the bottom, so it can't change.
With the ceramic grinder, it makes very uniform pepper as long as you crank.
It goes from very fine to much larger pieces.
The ceramic should last many years.
Of course, it will grind almost anything you can get in it.
I took this one apart to clean it before I put pepper corns in it.
Very solidly constructed. It also has a 5 year guarantee.
The reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is the design of the top.
The top goes on easy into groves in the body. The top will back off and become loose as you crank. there isn't a stop to hold the top on securely.
Because you can only grind in one direction, the top shouldn't become loose, but it does for me. Other folks may not have this problem.
I emailed Kuhn Rikon, and they offered to fix or replace. I would have had to pay postage to them, so I opted not to send it in.
I small piece of tranparent tape holds the top on perfectly.
I really like this grinder!!
