KitchenAid Mezzaluna Mincing / Chopping Blade Review

(More customer reviews)I originally bought this kitchenaid mezzaluna that came with a hard woven type of plastic (kind that keep tortilla warm) and love it. Trying to buy one now as a wedding gift and can't find the kitchenaid combination knife/bowl anywhere. What I like about this mezzaluna (or ulu) is the handle. Your fingers fit through the loop and it's very easy on the hand, especially when chopping a lot. This is so much faster than a cutting board and chopping nice or the extra mess of a processor. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I dulled a little after about 8 months (I don't use it daily) but still cuts good. Decent price and I like the sheath that covers it for storing. Now if I can just find the set!

Teavana Perfect Tea Kettle Review

(More customer reviews)I looked quite a bit around the internet to find a tea kettle for our induction cooktop. Le Creuset tea kettles were getting bad reviews (rusting!). Others had poor whistles or funny tastes, per the reviews. This kettle is stainless steel, inside and out. Nothing to rust or chip off. I was concerned that its handle would get hot, but it did not. About 800 cc of water boiled in a minute or two, but the handle was cool to the touch. The whistle is a classic whistle, perfectly adequate. So far, I am pleased with this purchase.

Prepara Cliq Garlic Crusher Review

(More customer reviews)I use a lot of garlic in my cooking and have never found a garlic press that was worth the trouble until now. This was a gift and the person who gave it to me has one and raved about it. He was right. It's ratcheted mechanism allows it to easily press 5 cloves at a time with complete ease. It releases by pushing back on the handle. It has gotten stuck a few times, but a little pull on the lift mechanism releases it. It says to pull out the screen to clean it, but with my kitchen brush I don't even need to as I just brush it and put the whole thing in the dishwasher and it comes out completely clean. I also like that it has a substantial high quality feel. I love this product, would recommend it to anyone and plan to buy some for gifts for my foodie friends. I don't mind paying a little more for a quality product that I think will last.

(More customer reviews)the juicer certainly looks good, all shiny stainless steel. it works pretty well too. even has a spout built into the juice collector, so you don't have to remove the strainer to pour out the juice.
my only gripe is the attachment of the three juicing cones. it's great that there's a selection of sizes, but the cone just sits on top of the strainer. there are 4 locating posts on each cone, and the posts just sit in a slot on the strainer. there is no attachment feature at all. this means, for example, if you're pushing down on your orange or whatever, and it forms suction on the cone, when you pick up of the orange peel, the cone comes off the juicer. kind of annoying.

Some coordination is required to hold the forward part of the handle and rear part at the same time while starting to tighten it, but it grips very well and makes lid removal easy. It can also be used to hold the jar while you turn the lid by hand or with another opener.
This item is the Strong Boy 2, which is made of plastic. That is why the price has come down. The original, I believe was aluminum with a steel band.

I do this a lot in the summer, both to freeze the corn and to help an older person who cannot eat from the ear. This tool makes it so much easier! (More customer reviews)I purchased my ricer a little over a month and have used it several times. With each use, I like this ricer more and more. Though it is plastic, this ricer is very sturdy and is designed very well. The handles are comfortable and I find the pot grip to be useful in keeping the ricer from falling into the pot. I tend to fill the hopper as much as I can, but I haven't had any problem squeezing the potatoes through. Not much force is needed!
The ricing disks are easy to change and clean: just squeeze the two tabs on the insert to remove it from the hopper, change the disk and finally replace the insert.

Capresso MT500 10 Cup Electronic Coffeemaker Review

(More customer reviews)Having been sorely disappointed with the Cuisinart Grind & Brew, I moved on to the Capresso MT500. I have not been disappointed.
Aside from being a superior coffee maker, the MT500 is a sleek, elegant appliance that looks great on any kitchen counter.
The keypad is simple and easy to use, and includes a digital clock for 24-hour programmability (a key must-have for me). The unit has a 3-5 cup small batch setting for fast and efficient brewing of smaller quantities (another must-have for me).
Perhaps most importantly, the unit brews very satisfactorily hot coffee, unlike the Grind & Brew, which I found luke warm (less than 170F). The thermal carafe does an excellent job of keeping unused coffee hot, particularly when you pre-heat it with hot water.
My only criticism would be that fill-level is inconveniently positioned and somewhat hard to read.
All in all, I'm very pleased with every aspect of the MT500.

Zyliss Susi 2 Garlic Press Review

(More customer reviews)I have had this on my wishlist for sometime and finally bought one. Let me tell you what I like about it and what I am disappointed with. This little baby does a fabulous job with the garlic. I just pop in one to three unpeeled garlic cloves (depending on their size)and squeeze. Instantly I have my garlic pressed, minus the peel. The peel is easily removed from the "bowl" of the press. However, here is the down and disappointing side. This model of Zyliss press does NOT have a cleaning tool with it. If I had realized that, I would not have purchased it. Do you realize how long it takes to pick the garlic out of all the little holes!!!! Please, Zyliss people, make a cleaning tool for this model!!! Tell me where to get it. Otherwise, this is going to end up in the giveaway bin at my house.

Also, the right baking pan clamp screw got stripped after only 2-3 times, and it is now nearly impossible to seat the baking pan inside, so it will engage - just to make the dough! I am very disapointed, as I love homemade bread.

Norpro Stainless-Steel Citrus Juice Press Review

(More customer reviews)I had bought one of the cast aluminum citrus press a week before and broke it after one day. As I use it mostly for limes and lemons I didn't want a stand type press because it took up too much kitchen counter real estate. So I did a search on the net and came across this one.
First it's stainless steel and built tough,very heavy duty. second it's got a 3" bowl, large enough for the large limes and lemons, but I'm afraid that it's too small for most oranges sold in supermarkets.
I feel that the design could be improved with another roll of holes in the bottom of the press, but other than that it's the best I've come across. Since I've received it, I've had a chance to look in several specialty cooking stores and haven't found one comparable.
**** Update, it's now 8/15/07. I use the press almost every day (my favorite drink is 2 packets of splenda, one fresh lime and a quart of carbonated water over ice). The press is in the same shape it when I bought it. No deformation of the handles (I'm a big guy 6'6" and 325 lbs and I've really squeezed the handles hard), after a pass through the dishwasher it shines like new.
**** Update it's now 11/18/2009. Still using it just about every day and it still looks and works like new.

Crafted in Germany with stainless steel this opener is sleekly designed. Appearance isn't its only asset - it really functions. You simply hold the handle with your left hand and position the support (a steel half moon) parallel to the top of the can edge. Give the handle a slight twist backward, and presto your can is at the cutting wheel's mercy. Then move the handle forward until the can is open. One more slight twist backward and the grip is released.
I can well remember the dark ages when I struggled with hand openers, unable to insert the cutter into the can, straining to turn the handle, and then seeing the lid plop into the can's contents.
On a good day I didn't cut my hand on the lid's jagged edge.
No more, this is a never-fail, smooth operation. Rosle has produced a pleasingly designed, easy to operate can opener that works with surgical precision.

Cuisipro Cupcake Corer and Decorating Set Review

(More customer reviews)I've been looking for an easy way to get filling into cupcakes without using a pastry bag that makes a huge mess. This little corer works fabulously! I love how it easily stops at the top of the cupcake removing just the right amount of cake. Super easy to use, and it cleaned up nicely. I'm only rating it with 4 stars because the spatula is extremely flimsy and somewhat cheaply made, along with the icing tips. If you are a regular baker and have your own tips and spatula's get this product! If you are just starting cake and cupcake decorating, the corer is worth it, but don't get discouraged with the other products that are included. Get Ateco brand instead. I didn't use the squeeze bottles, if someone does and gets frustrated, I would recommend putting your filling in a pastry bag or a zip lock bag (corner cut off) and fill the cupcakes. Not to mention how much easier the clean up is that way.
Overall I'm glad I bought this,great product, fun and very easy! Nice work on creating a unique product!!
