I've made a big investment in my cookware and while I never felt the plain teflon spoons were sturdy enough for me to feel comfortable loading them up, I didn't want to chance scratching the cookware's surface with a metal spoon. This seems to combine the best of both worlds. Having said that, the handle is just a little (very little) too long - it has to fit into the top rack of the dishwasher, so it doesn't cut off the water shower. The dishwasher is a must for this, as the edge bridging spoon and teflon has a definite lip and some attention has to be paid to cleaning the food bits out of the lip.
