(More customer reviews)I saw this corn zipper reviewed in Good Housekeeping, and decided to give it a try. I was a little put off by the price, which seems high for a glorified vegetable peeler, but I process a lot of corn from our garden and wanted a better way to do it. Free shipping from Amazon.com made it worth the gamble.
I received it yesterday and used it to de-kernel a dozen ears of corn from our garden. It worked like a charm! The kernels are neatly cut off into a waiting bowl, without any waste left on the cob. The zipper is rounded so it follows the curve of the cob better than a knife can.
It is extremely sharp on the cutting edge (obviously) so holding the corn safely and cutting away from your hand is very important. But I highly recommend this handy little tool to anyone who cuts corn off the cob for freezing or canning, or even just to serve fresh at dinner.
